What Forto does.
All of it, itemized.
Forto is organized around six capability groups. Each one does one operational job well, and composes with the others. Turn on what you need, leave the rest off.
DDP & Landed Cost
Duties at checkout
Duty and import tax priced into the cart and collected with the order. Delivered DDP — nothing due at the door.
Threshold engine
EU €3-per-item duty, UK £135, Norway VOEC, Australia GST — effective-dated rules applied per consignment.
Monitored thresholds
Regime changes are tracked weekly and reviewed by a person before they change what your customers pay.
Duty quote markup
An optional, merchant-controlled markup lever on duty quotes. Off by default.
Baked-in pricing
Duty-inclusive prices published into Shopify Markets price lists (Enterprise).
Wallet-backed settlement
Duties pre-funded from a prepaid wallet with per-label reserve holds, released on settlement.
Labels & Carriers
Forto carrier pool
Ship on Forto's carrier accounts from day one — routed per shipment, billed through your wallet.
Bring your own carriers
Your negotiated accounts compete in routing. When yours wins, you pay your rate — Forto adds a flat per-label fee, no markup.
Decision engine
Cheapest, fastest, or balanced routing strategies per shipment, across every connected account.
Checkout rates (CCS)
Live rates injected into Shopify checkout — or Manual Rate Mode with your own zones, no CCS required.
Batch printing
Print label runs in one pass (Growth and up). Multi-origin warehouse support.
Label caps by tier
50 / 1,000 / 10,000 / unlimited labels per month. Past the cap, overage is published per label — no surprise invoice.
Customs & Compliance
HS classification, review-backed
Every product is classified automatically — and anything the system isn't sure about stops for human review before it can price a cart.
Customs documents
Commercial invoice and CN22/23 generated per shipment and transmitted electronically with the label.
IOSS — Forto as intermediary
EU VAT on ≤€150 consignments collected at checkout and filed monthly under Forto's IOSS registration (Growth and up).
Union OSS logic
Intra-EU B2C routed through the One-Stop-Shop branch, with the €10,000 origin/destination VAT flip handled.
Compliance monitoring
Misclassification events tracked per merchant; repeated issues gate IOSS use before they become your problem.
Audit-ready documentation
Filing-grade records of every declaration and remittance, exportable (Enterprise).
Returns
No-login portal
QR-based returns portal — branded and hosted (Growth), embedded in your store (Pro and up).
Exchange-first flows
Offer an exchange before a refund and keep the revenue (Pro and up).
Your addresses, per market
Returns ship to your own addresses — up to 3 markets on Growth, unlimited on Pro. No fictional hub network.
Managed international returns
Forto arranges the cross-border return leg and files duty reclaim where the destination allows it (Pro and up).
Refund automation
Refund triggers on carrier scan or delivery, written back to the order automatically.
Reason analytics
Size, fit, damage, changed-mind rollups by SKU (Pro and up).
Platform & Developer
REST API
Read-only on Growth, full access on Pro and up. Scoped API keys tied to your tier.
Webhooks
HMAC-signed events — shipping events on Growth, the full stream on Pro. SLA metadata on Enterprise.
WMS integrations
ShipHero and ShipStation on Growth; all supported WMS platforms on Pro; custom connectors on Enterprise.
Approve payments once
One authorization covers your subscription, wallet top-ups, and duty variance. No surprise re-approvals.
No double charges
Retries, replays, and network hiccups can't make the same charge land twice — the money layer is built to make it impossible.
CSV everywhere
Statements, variance, and returns data export as CSV — scheduled SFTP delivery on Enterprise.
Security & Trust
GDPR
EU data residency, DPA signed on request.
No card data
Forto never touches card numbers — payments are tokenized and processed by Stripe.
Your VAT, kept apart
VAT collected from your customers sits in its own account until it's remitted to the tax office — never mixed with operating cash.
Signed webhooks, scoped keys
HMAC-signed webhooks and per-tier API key scopes, enforced at request time.
Encryption
TLS in transit, encrypted at rest.
Certifications, honestly
No SOC 2 or ISO 27001 yet — we say so, and we'll answer any security questionnaire with dates, not badges.
Every limit and every fee, one table.
The pricing page lays out the complete matrix — what each plan includes, every cap, and every per-label fee. No email required.
