Rates, routing, labels, pickups
You never choose a carrier per order unless you want to. Forto quotes live rates in your checkout, then routes each parcel to the best option across its own carrier accounts and any accounts you bring — and prints the label.
Rates in your checkout
With Shopify CCS enabled, Forto injects live carrier-calculated rates into checkout per destination and cart. Without CCS (Basic/Starter Shopify plans), Manual Rate Mode uses your Shopify shipping zones at checkout while Forto’s engine still picks the actual carrier at fulfillment — same routing, same labels, just fixed checkout prices you control.
How routing decides
Each shipment is priced across every connected account, and the engine picks by your strategy:
- ·Cheapest — lowest total cost that can actually serve the lane (all plans).
- ·Fastest — best transit time (Growth and up).
- ·Balanced — price/speed tradeoff (Growth and up).
“Can actually serve the lane” matters: a cheap service that can’t do prepaid duties on a DDP order isn’t eligible for it. The engine only picks compliant options.
Bringing your own carrier accounts
If you have negotiated carrier contracts, connect them in Settings → Carriers. Your accounts then compete in routing alongside Forto’s pool. When your account wins, the label bills to your account at your rate — Forto adds only a flat per-label fee and takes no percentage of your rate.
| Plan | Your carrier slots | Fee when your account wins |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | — | — |
| Growth | 3 | €0.50 / label |
| Pro | 10 | €0.25 / label |
| Enterprise | Unlimited | €0 |
Labels, batches, pickups
- ·Labels generate per order in
Fulfillment, with customs documents attached electronically. - ·Batch printing runs a whole queue in one pass (Growth and up).
- ·Pickups are booked automatically for the chosen carrier.
- ·Multiple warehouse origins: 1 on Starter, 5 on Growth, 25 on Pro, unlimited on Enterprise.
Label caps and overage
| Plan | Labels / month | Past the cap |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 50 | Hard stop until next cycle |
| Growth | 1,000 | $1.00 per extra label, on top of normal fees |
| Pro | 10,000 | $0.75 per extra label, on top of normal fees |
| Enterprise | Unlimited | — |
DDP labels have their own cap on Growth (500/month; 10,000 on Pro; unlimited on Enterprise). Every per-label fee is published on the pricing page — no surprise invoices.
